HOW WE PROTECT YOU AND YOUR CUSTOMERS ON THE INTERNET

You've heard about the problems associated with doing business on the Internet. How someone can buy from a website with a stolen card number and then the merchant is required to reimburse the card owner.

Here is how it works. A person with a fraudulent card number makes a purchase at a website. Without proper safeguards in place the transaction is processed and the amount is charged to the credit card. The owner of the card notices the fraudulent charge on the card statement and then contacts the company that issued the card. That is all it takes for most credit card companies to collect the amount processed from the merchant's account. Most of the time with no prior notice to the merchant. And if you never catch the crook you never recover the merchandise that was shipped.

This is why we incorporate several safeguards into our e-commerce websites that can dramatically decreased fraudulent transactions from being processed. With these safeguards in place your website will a secure place to conduct business for your customers. The following are just a few safeguards implemented in our e-commerce websites.

SAFEGUARDS TO PROTECT YOU

Address Verification Service - Our sites request billing address verification on all orders. This information is requested for your merchant account provider. As your customer is not present to sign the receipt or show ID when submitting the order, the major credit card providers have set this up as an alternate security measure to help you verify the cardholder is the one placing the order. Most credit card providers submit the billing address to a database that merchants can verify from electronically. Those providers that do not submit this information can generally be contacted via the 1-800 customer service number on the back of the card for a verification of the address. This is currently the best means of protecting customers from a third party using stolen credit card information.

Free or Web Based Email Addresses - The shopping carts you will purchase will not accept any order originating from a free, web-based, or email forwarding address - your customer must provide an ISP or domain based address. Most fraudulent transactions attempts originate from these free services.

IP Address - We always collect the IP address. It reveals the IP address & port of the computer being used to place the order. If a credit card is used fraudulently on your website you will know where the order originated.

We Require the Card Verification Value - The card security code is a unique three or four-digit number printed on debit/credit cards. This number is not embossed on the card and hence not printed on receipts - making it difficult for anyone other than the genuine cardholder, to know it. Some card issuers refer to this number as the 'Card Security Code' others as the 'personal security code' and others as 'Card Verification Value'.

SAFEGUARDS TO PROTECT YOUR CUSTOMER

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Technology - Our online stores are located on secure servers with 128 bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to protect your customers information.

The card Information is split and sent to different locations - The card type, number and expiration date are split into two separate messages before being transmitted to insure that even if the information were intercepted no one would be able to use it to incur fraudulent charges on the card.

Below is what one of the two messages being transmitted would look like: This is a real credit card number!

CARD TYPE: XXXX
NUMBER: XXXXXXXX90679448
EXP DATE: Month: XX Year: 03

The other message contains the rest of the information.

Our Commitment To Data Security - To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have also put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect from your customers online. Rest assured that all information will be processed in the most secure environment possible to protect you and your customers.
