TURBO™ 390 laminates and TURBO 390 prepregs are a high performance material system reinforced with DuPont, non-woven aramid N710 Series THERMOUNT. TURBO 390 laminate and prepreg products are manufactured with a unique high performance epoxy and tetrafunctional resin combination, the same resin system used in Polyclad's TURBO products. This combination of THERMOUNT reinforcement and TURBO high performance resin provides superior thermal performance, low in-plane thermal expansion, low dielectric constant (Dk), reduced weight, and laser and plasma processability. In addition, the non-woven THERMOUNT reinforcement results in extremely smooth copper surfaces, free of weave identity, providing improved fine-line and space-resolution capabilities. The 390 system is also laser fluorescing and UV blocking for maximum compatibility with automated optical inspection systems (AOI), optical positioning systems and photoimagable soldermask imaging.

LAMINATE AVAILABLITY
TURBO 390 laminates are available in single ply laminate standard thicknesses starting at 0.003 inches (0.076 mm) up to 0.005 inches (0.127 mm). Thicker laminates are available using multiples of these thicknesses. Standard copper claddings are available from 3/8 ounce (12 micron) to 3 ounce (103 microns). Polyclad's patented DSTFoil® copper foil cladding is standard but traditional copper foil and double treat clad products are available. Other thicknesses and copper claddings can be custom made to meet specific performance requirements.

PREPREG AVAILABILITY
TURBO 390 prepregs are available in thicknesses of 0.003 inches (0.076 mm) up to 0.005 inches (0.127 mm) in 0.0005 inch (0.0127 mm) increments. When fully cured TURBO 390 prepreg has the same performance attributes as TURBO 390 laminate. Standard flow and fill performance parameters designed to meet typical process and application requirements are available in the above thicknesses. Special performance variations can be custom made for specific applications.

PROCESSING AND STORAGE
390 laminates and prepregs are compatible with and perform well using most standard FR-4 process techniques. Some process steps must be modified depending on specific applications or product designs. General process recommendation technical bulletins are available from Polyclad. For specific processing guidelines please contact Polyclad Technical Services.

Storage of TURBO 390 laminates and prepregs is the same as for all FR-4 materials. Prepregs should be stored at 65±3° F (18±2°C) and 30-50% relative humidity. Temperatures and humidity above recommended conditions should be avoided during shipment and transport of prepreg materials. Prepregs stored below recommended temperatures should be allowed to equilibrate to the above specified conditions for eight hours prior to use. More detailed storage recommendation technical bulletins are available from Polyclad Technical Services.

APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS
Polyclad's UL file number is E45456. TURBO 390 laminate is UL listed under the designation TURBO 390 laminate and prepreg is listed under the designation PCL-FRP-390. TURBO 390 laminates and prepregs and PWBs constructed from them are all capable of achieving a UL 94-V0 flammability rating and a UL maximum continuous operating temperature of 120°C. Certain other more specific parts of Polyclad's UL listing may be applicable in specific cases. 390 Laminates and prepregs can be certified to IPC-4101A, Specification for Base Materials for Rigid and Multilayer Printed Boards, Specification Sheets IPC-4101A/55. Other industry or customer specific specifications, recognitions or designations may be applicable or certifiable to in certain cases. If you need additional information or have questions, please contact Polyclad Technical Services.
